No Supervision? No Poop Access!
Many dogs eat poop when no one is watching. By controlling their environment, you eliminate opportunities before they happen.
What to Expect
Practice: Anytime you’re not actively supervising
Best Times: When leaving the house, at night, or during busy moments
Goal: Prevent access to poop when you’re not there to stop it.
Step-by-Step Plan
1️⃣ Limit Free Access to the Yard
Only let your dog outside when supervised, especially if poop is present.
Use a long lead to guide them away from poop-prone areas.
2️⃣ Create a Safe, Clean Indoor Space
If your dog uses pee pads, keep them in a confined, easy-to-clean area.
Use a crate or puppy pen to manage unsupervised time.
3️⃣ Keep an Eye on Multi-Dog Households
If you have multiple dogs, separate them during potty breaks to prevent poop-sharing.
Supervise bathroom time and clean up before letting them roam freely.
Paw Tip: If your dog only eats poop when alone, it may be a sign of boredom or anxiety—add enrichment to keep them occupied!
Helpful Tools

🐾 Indoor Playpens – Keeps dogs in a poop-free zone.
🎾 Interactive Toys – Prevents boredom while you’re away.
Control the Environment!
By limiting access, you prevent bad habits from forming when you’re not around. Less freedom = less opportunity for poop eating!
